Proxemics is defined by the space between two or more people and is researched through “the perception, use, and structuring of space (Harrigan).” Each individual has his or her own personal space bubble. Depending on the given space between this individual and another depends on the meaning and connotation one may give off or receive. Our group wants to start our blog with an SNL clip where Steve Martin and Will Forte play two friends who are talking extremely close together. The proximity between the two is very intimate and clearly violates the rules we have set for friendship relationships in America. This Saturday Night Live clip informs us of our individual personal space with a sense of humor. Following this blog will be individual posts explaining more about proxemics and giving new examples.
